ocean memory project

The Community

Our strength lies in the diversity of perspectives that shape how we understand the world. The Ocean Memory Project is a vibrant and expanding network of over 100 researchers, creators, and thinkers bridging science, the humanities, and the arts. Together, we bring the ocean’s memories into our collective awareness and foster an intellectual space where new questions, methods, and collaborations emerge.

The Ocean Memory Project community brings together an extraordinary range of expertise and creativity. Our members span fields of study including marine biology, oceanography, biogeochemistry, astrobiology, anthropology, cognitive neuroscience, earth system science, and biomedical engineering. Alongside these scientific perspectives, artists, composers, filmmakers, sculptors, writers, and activists contribute cultural and creative insights.

This fusion of disciplines, rooted in the sciences, humanities, and arts, fuels a dynamic exchange of ideas and fosters innovative collaborations that expand how we understand ocean memory and its role in addressing the challenges of our time.

These intersections spark fresh insights into the ocean’s role in memory. By nurturing transdisciplinary and transcultural dialogue and initiatives, our community becomes a cradle for innovation, partnership, and impact, united in the shared purpose of evolving new narratives and strategies to address the socio-ecological challenges of the Anthropocene.
