Our primary modality at OMP is to organize thematic workshops to explore what ocean memory can teach us about the blue planet and ourselves, develop models for successful transdisciplinary collaborations, and find innovative pathways to positive impacts. In these workshops, participants with diverse perspectives are invited to present and collaborate in a horizontal and open way. These are followed by a yearly funding opportunity meant to support collaborative research across discipline and culture to explore and develop ocean memory.
But we also grow through the many opportunities which arise out of community collaboration. These have brought us to an ocean memory research cruise in the Salish Sea, the creation of discussion groups on the intersection of ocean memory and the pandemic, one on sound, a webinar series featuring pairs of OM community members from different disciplines, and a residency program.
