Pandemic Discussion
How does the pandemic inform Ocean Memory?
We’ve been looking in the wrong place for a deeper understanding of the virus
Formed in April 2020, the pandemic discussion group met to explore how the coronavirus pandemic can inform ocean memory and how OM may in turn inform how we think about the virus and its effects on the larger human and natural ecosystem. The gathering also allowed community members to share how the pandemic affected them personally and professionally. Conversations ranged from rigorous to revealing, and led to a collective piece of writing which was published in Scientific American in August.
Starting in January 2021, a search for other forms of expressive output about the pandemic/OM dialog led the group to shift focus to sound, and continues to meet and explore together under the appellation OM Audio Sessions.
While these discussions have been internal to the OM community, we are open to welcoming new participants. If you are potentially interested in joining this group please email us at oceanmemoryproject@gmail.com. Please include some information about who you are and why this group might interest you.
